A Window to a World of Knowledge
New Stories and Projects for 2025
As we prepare to welcome 2025, SPI is excited to share a glimpse of what’s to come. From groundbreaking projects that ignite curiosity and inspire action to new ways of engaging with history, science, and the arts, the year ahead promises to be one of continued exploration and innovation.
We’re committed to creating meaningful connections between knowledge, imagination, and the future. Read on to learn more about some of our upcoming initiatives and ways in which we are working to further our mission, using the transformative power of story to connect people around our common humanity and create a better future.
Climate Solutions
The hoped-for outcome of this series is to inspire the next generation of scientists, engineers, and technicians in the development and implementation of green energy. Through in-depth conversations with leaders in fields like geothermal energy, solar power, wind energy, marine and bioenergy technologies, and hydrogen innovations, students will gain invaluable insights into cutting-edge technologies and the personal journeys of the pioneers driving these advancements.
Complementing these narratives, SPI’s Handwerks project will bring together the expertise of engineers and the hands-on experiences of technicians. This dual-perspective approach bridges the gap between conceptual innovation and real-world application, offering students a well-rounded understanding of today’s clean energy landscape, the opportunities that are available now - and the potential for tomorrow.
By presenting compelling stories and fostering curiosity, SPI’s collection aims to empower young people to envision their roles in shaping a sustainable future.
New Hampshire History Series
Because students typically study state history as part of their elementary and middle school curriculum, SPI History recordings, focusing on SPI’s home state of New Hampshire, will be produced specifically for that age group, providing a tool for teachers and an engaging way to help young people understand New Hampshire’s past.
We’re kicking off this series with an interview in December (2024) with Rick Kfoury, President of the Boston and Maine Railroad Historical Society. The arrival of the railroad in 1831 transformed New Hampshire’s economic, social, and cultural landscape. Rick’s knowledge and insights will guide us through the railroad's far-reaching influence.
Other recordings in the series will explore:
Native Americans and the Abenaki
European Settlers
The Coming of the Railroad (Rick Kfoury)
Industry and Enterprise, including Textiles / Logging / Tourism / The White Mountain School / The Ski Industry
Over the Moon Pop-Up Student Art Gallery
Launching in early 2025, SPI’s Over the Moon Pop-Up Student Art Gallery will celebrate the creativity and talent of young artists inspired by stories in our collection.
For this project, students are encouraged to draw characters, scenes, or abstract interpretations based on the feelings elicited by these stories. Artwork can be submitted by teachers, parents, or school officials, and selected pieces will be showcased in the gallery throughout the school year.
We’ll put out a Call for Artists through our newsletter every few months, so be on the lookout and spread the word! To subscribe, click here and scroll to the bottom of the page, or contact us directly via our Contact page.
Wishing you Peace in the New Year
