Handwerks is a German word meaning “the work of the hands.” This collection features stories told by skilled tradespeople who talk about what they do, what inspired them, and how they developed their craft.
SPI’s aim is to help young people learn about careers in Building, Historic Preservation, Automotive and Mechanical work, Fine Woodworking, Traditional Arts and Crafts, and Energy-related fields. We encourage teachers, parents, and mentors to share this resource so that young people can get to know some of those working in the trades, explore what’s out there, and – quite possibly - discover an interesting new career option along the way.
Sometimes, the right story told by the right person at the right time can make all the difference.
