Tom Bodett is a furniture maker and carpenter who co-founded the nonprofit woodworking school Hatchspace in Brattleboro, Vermont. Prior to a long and successful career as a writer, actor, and humorist, Tom lived in Alaska where he worked as a carpenter building houses. His experience shoring up old houses began when he was a kid, working with his father on their home in Michigan. For reasons that Tom explains in his SPI story, he left his writing, radio, and stage career behind and turned his attention back to woodworking.
